Welcome to the Newcastle Hebrew Congregation. Also known as Beth Yisrael, we are a traditional Orthodox Jewish Community, hosting religious services and social events for the diverse Jewish people of the region. Rabbinic advice and pastoral services are provided by our Honorary Rabbi and Rebbetzin, Yossi & Malki Rodal of Chabad of The Hunter and Central Coast.
A Diverse Community
The Newcastle Hebrew Congregation, Beth Yisrael, is a warm and inviting community and synagogue, uniting the diverse Jewish community of Newcastle and Central Coast of NSW, Australia. As one of the oldest communities in Australia still holding services, it is located within the inner-city area known as “The Hill”, near Cooks Hill, Darby Street and Newcastle Beach. Kabbalat Shabbat Services
Kabbalat Shabbat services are held Friday evenings at 6:00pm AEST, or 6:30pm AEDT (when daylight savings is in effect). Due to security concerns, entry to the synagogue site must be pre-arranged. Please contact the Secretary to coordinate a visit.
Community Learning

Shabbat Minyan
Monthly Shabbat Minyan. Join us in making a minyan on the third Shabbat of the month at 9:30am. Check the newsletter or contact Rabbi Yossi to confirm.
Chagim Services & Events
All holy days are celebrated communally. We celebrate Rosh Hashana, Shavuot and Pesach with a grand meal. Check newsletters for specific dates and times.
